Core Civic in Mason, TN is seeking to reopen it's facility in partnership with ICE in order to hold immigrant members of our communities. Community members in West TN spoke at publicly against this action last week and while it seemed the vote was made in favor of not reopening the ICE facility, the Mayor of Mason came out publicly to state that the facility would reopen as a ICE facility. This is in complete opposition to the interests of the community in favor of corporate profit!

For the past two years, Blue Oval Good Neighbors has brought together hundreds of community members across West Tennessee who want to see our communities come first especially as big developments like Ford's Blue Oval City come to the area. Blue Oval Good Neighbors has advocated for issues like affordable housing, environmental transparency and corporate accountability and now will take steps to form their own official organization.

At this meeting, we will determine our mission statement, theory of change and vision for our communities. In addition, we will determine roles within Blue Oval Good Neighbors and take another step to create a sustainable force for progress in rural West Tennessee.

Core Civic is a for profit ICE facility that has been lining our politicians pockets for years. They are trying to re-open a private ICE facility in Mason TN. Join us on Tuesday, August 12 at 7PM as the Mason City Council votes on re-opening the facility. This is a classic case of corporate overreach and we must stop big corporations like Core Civic from harming our immigrant communities and changing our neighborhoods.
