The Mayor and Aldermen of Mason TN have agreed to have a public hearing about the status of the Core Civic Ice Detention Facility. As most of you know, ICE has been kidnapping our neighbors and detaining them in Mason. We’ve had reports of mistreatment and deplorable conditions.

We are calling on everyone that opposes what’s happening in Mason to show up and demand that Mason end the contract with ICE.

CALEB's general meeting is a time for all our members to gather together for strategizing and coordination related to our various public campaigns.

It's also an excellent opportunity to learn more about our work and is ideal for anyone curious about CALEB.

We spend this time developing our organizing skills and evaluating past public actions. Each meeting features a breakout for our three task forces to work on their campaigns.

This is a conversation on how we can deliver relief for working people while making corporations pay their fair share. Multiple studies and reports have shown that more than 60% of corporations filing in TN are paying ZERO in the state's corporate income tax, while working people struggle to get by. In spite of that, the TN legislature has passed back to back multi-billion tax giveaways to big corporations, but refused to eliminate the tax on groceries.

Join us on September 24th to hear from legislators who are working to eliminate the state grocery tax while closing corporate tax loopholes. Members of local unions and churches will discuss the impact of paying grocery taxes on working people, while key services go underfunded.

Tennesseans from around the state will talk about how the regressive sales and grocery taxes make life harder for families while big corporations get a free ride.

Democracy Day in Action is more than an informational event. It is an opportunity for community members to learn, connect, and take action.

Held in Founders Park, the event will create an accessible and welcoming environment where residents can connect with civic organizations, better understand the voting process, access helpful information and resources, and participate in hands-on activities that prepare them for the November 3 general election. The event will also include food, music, youth activities, and giveaways. It is free and open to the public.

Join your chapter of the Memphis-Midsouth Democratic Socialists of America for our next General Meeting on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, from 6-8 pm. The location information will be shared to you via text and email before the meeting.

General Meetings for our chapter are held every other month on the second Tuesday of each month in 2026. These meetings are for chapter updates and decisive business, including voting on motions and resolutions, electing new officers, reports from committees, and more.
